Horses have been used by man for centuries not only for work and transportation, but also for sport.  There are many different disciplines that we compete our horses in today.  Most disciplines do share the possibility for injury, including one time mishaps or repetitive motion injury.  In the last 20 years many advances in equine medicine have allowed us to diagnose and treat many once career ending injuries and also to prolong the career of our sport horses in a safe manner.  Dr. Grim has concentrated much of her interests studying improved ways to treat lameness.   This includes attending the intensive ISELP training in advanced sports medicine issues and locomotor pathology.  Her goal is to keep you riding and get you  back in the saddle as soon as possible.

Some of the newest technologies include:

Extracorporeal Shockwave therapy
IRAP (Interleukin receptor antagonist protein)
PRP therapy (platelet rich plasma)
Stem cell therapy
Judicial use of joint injections
Joint supplements
Acupuncture
Ultrasound guided joint injections

To keep current Dr. Grim is always excited to attend new and specialized continuing education in regenerative medicine, sports medicine and locomotor pathology and rehabilitation

One of the organizations Dr. Grim belongs to and has studied under is the Internaional Society of Equine Locomotor Pathology (ISELP). Their goal is to provide contemporary knowledge and techniques in the continually evolving field of equine locomotor analysis to better prepare the equine clinician to understand and manage lameness conditions in the equine athlete.

Specific Goals

* To present the anatomical and biomechanical data allowing for more accurate diagnosis of pathological lesions as well as the management of the different conditions.
* To share the latest developments in diagnostic imaging of bones, joints, tendons, muscles, nervous system.
* Standardization of imaging procedures for a better communication between practitioners and/or referring centers.
* To improve the technical skills of practitioners in the use of non-invasive diagnostic procedures
* Publications of new diagnostic procedures, new concepts in pathologic conditions of the equine locomotor system, unknown clinical entities.
